What is the need to have a "Trigger" created in the built-in Export to MS-Excel script available in DXL library? CAUK77 - Sat May 21 11:47:20 EDT 2016 |

I could not understand. I was thinking it had to be something with OLE Automation, but then I could not find the same in export to MS-Word. Naturally I suspected it to be related to views as exporting a view with many columns to excel makes more sense than to MS-Word. The other point I like to mention is that often a user invokes them and uses CLOSE button to finish the operation. It is exactly at this time the triggers are being deleted. So I wonder how a trigger closes the GUI? |
Re: What is the role of trigger in export to excel script The trigger will be deleted after you close the form or will be executed if you close the module. When the trigger is executed it will close the form as the module is not valid anymore (as it has been closed). In that way any errors from the DXL code trying to be executed into an invalid module will be avoided. As the form will be closed because of the trigger, at the close of the form the trigger will also be deleted. |

If the user closes the module, the trigger fires and the GUI closes. If the user closes the GUI, the GUI would delete the trigger as it is no longer needed.
